Background Information
The Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery houses one of Ireland's foremost modern art collections, including paintings by Renoir, Monet and Degas. More recently, the bequest of the Francis Bacon Reece Mews Studio has brought the gallery to international attention. Buro Happold worked on an exciting new extension to house temporary exhibits as well as a fixed exhibition of the works of Seán Scully.
Project objectives
Intially Happold Safe & Secure were appointed to ‘shone up’ the new galleries, with the scope soon being extended into the control room and then throughout the entire site.
The primary objective for Happold Safe & Secure was to make Dublin City Gallery the best protected gallery in Ireland.
Key successes
Some of HS&S key success for this project included.
- The design competitive procurement of implementation of a state of the art CCTV control suite at the heart of the gallery.
- An upgrade of all existing security systems
- The successful implemention of a sophisticated, and fully integrated security management systems.
- Protection devices for artwork at the gallery
